Sweet Things

There was an alternate time, a better time, for her ghost; when she was younger and didn't realize how poisonous (her) touch could be. She was glad. And that's just it. She hadn't come to the realization yet that her lips were like morphine and everything they touched unleashed the poison. She was a cold-hearted killer being that the weapon was herself. After this hit her, when she finally came to this realization; she was blessed with a curse that she desperately wanted a remedy for. And she chose that. She could have became the monster that people viewed her as but she decided to become something sweet... Yeah, sweet. • • • Everything she needed was there for the taking, but there was something terrifying about grabbing them. These remedies were only available in her wildest dreams and her sweetest nightmares so when they became a reality, she quivered. She was a fugitive to the sweet world and a prisoner to her own poison-goddess ways. So, you see, she felt as if there was no way out, until she met "it," the thing that would save her. It was something bigger than her, and yet so simple. It gave her guidance but it even didn't know where it was going. She was saved by the bitter poison in the sweet apple. This was her life-line, she felt, so she kept drinking and drinking and sucking the apple dry. • • • So she poisoned herself, which is really the irony of it all, but maybe that's how it was meant to be. She drank the poison to become sweet. She was her own miracle. "Sweet" was, at first, allusive but now it became her and she became it. But this sweet side came with new dreams as well as new nightmares: "What if I went back and drank from the apple again?" She didn't want to become curious just yet, but she kept thinking and thinking, drinking and drinking until she realized that this new thought wasn't a thought nor was it a dream. This was her new reality, a dream within a dream. When she was poisonous, she thought of sweet things and when she was sweet, the poison came to her, begging for her to give it a home. And I suppose that's where it all ended for her. Going back to that poison left her ruthless and...unable. Disabled.
