My dad never knew his real parents
He never knew his real last name
But he had a foster mom and dad
That loved hime just the same
They never told him who he was
Who his parents might have been
He went on to have his own family
But often wondered now and then
There was a picture of a couple
holding him when he was born
And if this couple was his parents
Then I think he might have known
He has been gone now for several years
And I hope the lord above
Introduced him to his real parents
So they could know his love
