She took her broken heart and she crawled into her bed
Every part of her ached as she replayed it in her head
She was driving herself insane as she traced her mind across his face
All she wanted was to feel whole again, all she wanted was to feel safe
She screamed her heart out on the phone, it took all the strength she had
But after she hung up she felt like her heart had cracked in half
She felt as if she could hardly breathe, her world had just been shattered
But how are you supposed to feel when you lose the only boy that ever mattered?
She played all the saddest songs she knew, the ones she thought she'd never need
And the tears, they just kept coming, until she cried herself to sleep
But then she woke up one morning and she couldn't stand his face
So she tore down all the pictures and put up new ones in his place
She deleted that stupid playlist, the one that made her think of him
And she deleted all their messages so she'd never read them again
She put on her favorite dress, the one he'd never let her wear
And she felt good about herself because she simply didn't care
She bought all her favorite foods and watched the movies he'd never watch
And she sat and enjoyed her freedom, not living by his clock
Her heart slowly began to heal and she learned how to smile again
She looked into the mirror and realized she looked better without him
She finally deleted his number and decided that moving on was a choice
She found that soon enough, she could barely remember his voice
Her heart became a garden again, the one that he had let die
The flowers were starting to bloom again, it had just taken time
He had been a chapter in her life and she was so scared to turn the page
But finally she did it and the new chapters are where she stayed.
