You take my breath away
As I inhale the breath
That escapes your lips,
As we lay beside each other
Your gentle hands glide across my face,
We softly sway back and forth;
My eyes are shut
But I see our future
You take me home,
The night is black,
the street lights are orange;
Your smile is crooked
but your love is straight forward
I don’t have to tell myself to love you,
Just as I don’t have to tell my blood
To run through my veins.
It just happens, effortlessly,
without me even realizing it.
