Moonbeams filtering through trembling leaves,
Twinkling stars on a deep dark abyss,
Monotonous crickets chirping a single tone,
Water in a stream tumbling, trickling , tinkling,
On it's way to the great beyond.
Dogs howling, cats prowling, raptors following
Field mice skittering, rabbits flittering, all around.
Blackness wrapped around bushes and flowers,
Earthy fragrances from newly spread bowers,
Distant din of speeding vehicles,
Screech of tires on macadam lanes,
Sounds of the night like orchestrated tones,
Blending together to the creaks and groans,
Of the bed steadily becoming undone, another sleepless summer night gone.
