When anyone goes into politics
Be ready to be hit with
some nasty licks.
Trading barbs and innuendo,
Just the basic things most
Candidates do.
Going out on a campaign trail
The faults of the incumbent
Office seekers like to assail.
Covering the reasons to meet,
Go so far as debating out
On a corner on any street.
The arguments they present
May be strong or weak,
Are they logical for
The office they seek?
When Election Day finally arrives,
It's up to the electorate
As to who survives.
Win by a voting landslide,
Or only a few,
The voters have spoken,
Time to make all those
Promises come true.
