As I sit on my fire escape overlooking the city The moonlight and the city lights brighten up the sky The view reminds of a painter’s artistry I really admire this night’s eye... It could not have created such a masterful view They are so many meanings to this vision If you could see this, I wonder what it would mean to you It is incredible how this sight was created as the art of living... The rays of the moon projects down on the skyscrapers As the city lights glow from the streets The hustlers are out there carrying out their capers This is the life of the city that never sleeps... Dollar signs are floating in the air The go getters are out to capture it Blinded by the glitter of the jewels with the brightest glare That is what keeps them after it... City lights highlight the paper chase You can see it through their eyes and the expressions on their face Others are there for a night out Being entertained from what this city offers That is what the energy of this city is about Some overdose on the energy and in return become a monster... A slave to that NY State of Mind Addicted to dollar signs On the NYC Grind Time is money and money is time... Billboards advertise what we must have in our lives Top brands of the latest fashions Design to catch our eyes Flashing lights from the cameras to catch all the action...
