THE DAYS WE PLAYED

It was back in those days, when we walk every day, When the sun was high and entrenched as we ate, You held my hand as we watched the play, You were my shield and we were entwined by fate, The sun was happy and we were like the wind, The tress sang with us, and we alike sang in rhymes, Wherever we went, no one was left behind, The day was nice, every time we rode our bikes, The days were jumpy and clingy at best, The nights were short and light with the moonlight The sky was gray but nice to look at I attest Your eyes were bright and might like a star at midnight Back then your face was all I could see. Just like when a child sees a yellow bee.
