Rust and Ashes: A World in Despair

I watched the metal rust and fall, Like rain on streets so empty, all The ashes danced, a snow-like spray As screams echoed till peace held sway. The mother waits for her lost son, The children wait for the shining sun, To light the path of their hero's return, But will he ever, or will they yearn? Who stole the colors from our land, And sold it all with a greedy hand? I saw you take the price, so bold, Leaving our future bleak and cold. Tall towers that reached for the sky, Now rubble 'neath my feet lie. Blood flowed like a river so deep, As eyes dried up like a desert's keep. Our world now broken, shattered, torn, Like a rose with its petals shorn. We search for hope, a glimpse of light, To guide us through this endless night. But in the darkness, we find no way, Like lost souls in endless fray. For even in chaos, beauty dies, Leaving us with tear-filled eyes.
