The thing they don’t tell you about sobriety
Is that it almost feels worse
Than laying sprawled out on the floor together
Abdomens swollen like white bellied frogs
You stick together
Secret promises oozing out of your spines
“Tomorrow we’ll be better”
Your eyes will roll back into their fixed position
And I’ll sit lifeless next to you
Begging
Pleading
Them
To
Look
My way
The thing they don’t tell you about sobriety
Is that it’s just as lonely
The difference?
you remember the numbness.
